Zachary Shutters

Zach is a counseling intern at Sloka Therapy Group and a master’s-level student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, currently training to become a Marriage and Family Therapist. He brings a calm, grounded presence to therapy and is passionate about helping clients feel safe, supported, and understood from the very first session.

Zach understands that starting therapy can feel intimidating or uncertain. He believes clients do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out—only the willingness to begin. His approach is warm, approachable, and nonjudgmental, creating a space where clients can openly explore their thoughts, emotions, and relationships at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive.

He believes the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important parts of healing. By building trust and genuine connection, Zach helps clients gain clarity, better understand themselves, and navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and resilience.

Zach works collaboratively with individuals, couples, and families to explore emotional patterns, relationship dynamics, and personal goals. He is especially interested in understanding how past experiences shape present struggles and how increased awareness can lead to meaningful change. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and experiential approaches, he helps clients strengthen emotional connection, develop healthier coping strategies, and create more fulfilling relationships.

Clients often appreciate Zach’s thoughtful, compassionate style and his ability to meet them where they are. His goal is to help each person feel empowered to move toward a more authentic, balanced, and connected life.
